It was only in the 1930s that the first electric bass was created. In 1933, the American Paul Tutmarc managed to build electric basses the size of a cello and in limited series: the Model 736 Bass Fiddle. The instrument was equipped with a 30° scale, a solid body and an electromagnetic microphone.
