Samba canção

Samba-canção is a musical subgenre originating from samba, which emerged in the late 1920s in the midst of the modernization of urban samba in Rio de Janeiro, when it began its process of distancing itself from the maxixe. Also called "mid-year samba" (that is, sambas made outside the Carnival season), in general terms, the samba-canção makes a more elaborate reinterpretation of the melody - emphasizing it - and has a moderate tempo (the slower within the strands of modern urban samba), centered on themes of love, loneliness and the so-called "pain-de-elbow". The samba-canção was developed from professional musicians who played in revue theaters in Rio. "Linda Flor (Ai, Ioiô)", by composer Henrique Vogeler and lyricists Marques Porto and Luís Peixoto, is considered the inaugural milestone of this samba style.
